Already in 1474, the foundations of the former public hospital and the hospital church were laid. The complete complex consisted of three main buildings: the hospital church, the hospital building and the beneficiary apartment (the residential area of the clergyman).
The Stadthotel is the most valuable Gothic building in the baroque city of Schärding. With its opulently distinctive embrasure of red marble and the relievo in the lunette, the entrance portal is a masterpiece of late Gothic stone sculpture work. The original historic walls have sustained to the present day, and they have been thoroughly renovated.
